I don’t know why, but cows seem to think they can eat fire. I was burning a persimmon tree yesterday that had been used as an anchor post for a gate,  and left it for a moment while I went to get some oats for the mules. When I got back,  Bailey was stoking the fire with her face.

Later in the evening, all the cattle came and stood by the fire, inhaling and exhaling the smoke through their nostrils.

UPDATE: Bailey’s got the basic principle of the curling iron down, but  the prototype needs some work.
