The past couple of days I’ve either been in or underneath this room replacing joists, crawling in the mud, skim coating the walls with joint compound, roughing in a new floor to replace the sections of this one that succumbed to dry rot, and generally breathing a lot of different kinds of dust. This is almost a before picture. A real before picture would have shown the ceiling caving in where they ran the flue pipe through the second floor. It would also show chunks of plaster separating from the lath on the walls, and the pair of lovely vinyl recliners that were buried beneath  bundles of newspapers stuffed in rotting plastic bags redolent of rat and squirrel urine.

In a few days I should be ready to post the after picture.
