I haven’t quite finished redoing the bathroom, but all it wants now are a couple more towel bars, and some purty pictures and maybe a seashell or two.
Here’s the tub.
It’s all pretty low-tech, but free of the brown stains and stink of fail that characterize a 1940’s white trash shithouse. And now we have a place to piss when it’s raining or snowing!

Wow! And rain free you say. I like the dark wood trim around the shower esp.

It’s an old door I found in one of the smokehouses. I used up a bunch of old junk that we had left over from the move from our previous house, too.
I think I like not having a crusty rotting vinyl floor best of all.
That “Green Man” head supporting the shelf is something I’ve been struggling to find a use for for a couple of decades now.

Thanks, Hattie. I still have to build an outhouse one of these days, maybe with an outdoor bath.

Good job! You give me hope for the odds and ends accumulated over decades of wondering what to do with them. Would that the outcome would be as elegant as your results. We use a few of those old three-panel mirrors as a sort of clerestory to bounce light around a room.

That’s pretty much what that mirror’s doing. iI does seem to help make that tiny room look slightly larger. Unfortunately the frame had grown too weak for its original beveled glass sections, and i had to trim an old dressing mirror to fit, and glue the whole thing to a hardboard backing .I built a new vanity mirror out of some scrap cedar framing and cut a bowfront shelf from a section of a large cedar I felled last year after the mules gnawed all the cambium off and killed it. They love to crib cedars for some reason. I guess it keeps their breath fresh.

Great job! Really nice looking bath, Cooz. I see you use a brush and soap to shave as do I.

Thanks, Michael. I rarely shave anymore, because it’s a huge pain in the ass. It’s not like i have a lot of hair on my face, but what’s there is like aircraft cable. My wife bought me a bunch of eco-razors that are a splendid idea, but they’re like trying to mow late season orchard grass with a spoon. I have to use electric clippers first, then shave a couple of days in a row.
If i don’t do this, all I get is a frail, pubic, old hipster beard. But I’m so lazy it’s my look.
